PRODUCT DEMOS / PRACTICAL GUIDE

Make a product demo people can follow after the call.

A useful demo teaches one task and ends on a visible result. Give your viewer a clear path to watch, then a guide they can use later.

Choose the result before the recording.

A demo becomes easier to follow when it answers a specific question. Can a new teammate join the workspace? Can a customer generate the report they need? Pick one result your audience cares about.

Then choose the shortest complete route to that result. Leave unrelated features for another recording. A buyer who missed the call should still understand what the feature does and how to try it.

Record the path a viewer could repeat.

Start on the screen your audience will recognize. Explain the controls you use, and show the effect of each important action. A wrong turn in the raw recording is fine; you can trim it from the explanation you send.

Example: In the fictional Acme workspace, a focused demo starts on Your team, sends an invitation, and ends on Invite pending. That result gives the viewer a clear finish line.

Make the small control readable.

A toolbar control that looks clear on your desktop may disappear inside a smaller video player. Review click zooms where they help people see the action, and leave time to read the important state after the click.

Review the script alongside the screen. Replace “here” or “this button” with the visible label. The narration should help the viewer find their place, even if they glance away for a moment.

Leave a guide beside the demo.

The video carries the explanation and pace. A step-by-step guide gives the viewer something to follow while doing the task in their own account. Include the permission they need and the result they should check.

Watch the export before sharing it. A video share link points to that exact export, so create a new link when you make a new version. A guide link serves the current guide for its language; review changes before sharing it again.
